About Us
This interdisciplinary research Centre was established in late 2018 with funding from the OHEPEE Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha, India, under the auspices of the World Bank, appointing an eminent scientist Dr. N. K. Sahoo (Former Associate Director of the Physics Group at the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Visakhapatnam) as the mentor. The head of the Dept. of Physics, Prof. Sukanta Kumar Tripathy is co-ordinating it, with active aid from four faculty members of Berhampur University, three postdoctoral associates, and ten research scholars Dr. N. K. Sahoo, engaged on a wide spectrum of research activities. The centre is currently working on numerous projects financed by DST, DAE (Government of India), and OURIIP (Government of Odisha, India). The chief goals of the centre include developing and prototyping of low cost optical sensors for healthcare, food security and diverse environmental applications based on Nano science and technology. Since its inception, it is putting sustained efforts on building sophisticated experimental facilities that will be utilised to train the faculties and research students in different Universities and Colleges of the state. It also aspires to establish a robust networking and scientific collaboration with reputed organizations in India and abroad. Along with these, creation of new intellectual property right ( IPR ), and acquiring varied funded research schemes in partnership with other universities are among the prime objectives of the centre. Our area of expertise comprise of swift design and characterization of hybrid nano materials for sensing, drug delivery, industry effluent treatment, design and simulation of invasive and non-invasive photonic biosensors, SPR based photonic biosensors, modelling and simulation of state-of-the-art thin film devices for sustainable and futuristic energy harvesting applications.
